The Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) and the dance community were deeply saddened and filled with immense sorrow to hear about the sudden loss of our colleague, Darrell Cleveland.

Darrell was more than a performer, he was truly an artist whose talents were shared as a dancer, choreographer and teacher. Dallas Black Dance Theatre was especially blessed and fortunate to have Darrell perform as a principal dancer in the 1990’s. After his career at Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Darrell went on to pursue his teaching career. He received a Master of Arts in Dance from Texas Women’s University. He taught throughout the DFW Metroplex at universities, dance schools and academies including DBDT, touching the lives of many students and adults with his outstanding, knowledgeable training skills.

Darrell Cleveland, 45 years of age and only child was born in Jacksonville, Florida.
